Job Purpose
- To assist Head (Youth Programmes 1) in developing a sustainable youth philanthropy programme in Singapore by empowering youth to make grant decisions on youth-led community projects.
- To manage and implement the Overseas Singaporean-Young ChangeMakers (OS-YCM) scheme by recruiting youth panellists and adult volunteers, coordinating training, developing structures and procedures for grant application, approval and review, and marketing the scheme to potential youth grantseekers.
- To assist in planning and implementing communication strategies to develop the awareness, support and commitment of youth, community based organisations, educational institutions and other stakeholders in youth grantmaking.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key duties and responsibilities that need to be performed to meet the primary objective of the job.
- Oversee all aspects of the OS-YCM, and any other OSU-related work pertaining to managing the initiative.
- Recruit and coordinate training for youth grantmakers and adult volunteers. Provide guidance and mentoring to successive terms of youth grantmakers.
- Develop partnerships with local and international organisations and institutions to market the programme.
- Coordinate and provide necessary administrative support in regular YCM panel meetings and other ad hoc meetings.
- Assist to handle financial management including reporting to funding sources on the use of the money.
- Participate in grantmaking networks, training, or other activities to support skill development for participants and strengthen programme operation.
- Actively publicise youth philanthropy and grantmaking to its constituencies.
- Compile and draft papers, reports and budgets for projects and meetings.
- Develop, enhance and provide content updates to the YCM webpage to publicise YCM and OS-YCM.
- Establish a YCM community of practice with retiring and current grantmakers, and galvanise participation by creating physical and online sharing platforms on good grantmaking practices.
Other Duties
Other ad-hoc duties not covered under main responsibilities and duties.
- Assist other sections within NYC and PA in carrying out their projects.
- Provide secretariat support to the selection process of the Singapore Youth Awards at the Advisory Committee level.
- Participate in WITS and SSS.
- Contribute articles to Times and other publications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior officers.
Requirements
- Degree
- Minimum of 2 years experience in youth work and/or marketing to youth.
- Demonstrated project management and/or marketing experience.
- Able to adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Good interpersonal relationships with all levels, from young people and nonprofits to government officials and corporates.
